Damian's Interview

Briar sighs, her head on the table. This year would be beyond entertaining. She sits up and flips her hair back. She places her glasses back on her face. She does a quick stretch of her arms and shoulder before she sighs again and waits for the next convict to be brought in.

Damian appeared as the poster child for sophisticated upbringing, standing upright with the perfect posture as he had being carried away from his cell to someplace new while his face gave away nothing. A voided mask that apparently unnerved the guards. They were expecting and angry or sniveling spoiled brat that relied on Daddy to fix everything.

But Damian was not the stereotypical rich boy. He was far more dangerous, not that he was going to let on to that. He planned on not revealing anything while waiting about for his trial. Police kept asking him who he was working for, where they were, but he always said nothing. To say nothing was to not give away anything. And come his trial, he would play the part of a scared and confused child who couldn't possibly done the things he was being charged of.

Whenever that trial was ever going to be. Damian was pretty sure they were dragging it out as long as possible hoping to get something truly incriminating on him. Or get the information they wanted. Such as now as he was brought into a room with a blonde woman in glasses.

Without a word, he sat down and blinked up at the woman before him. Icy blue eyes starring out with a calculating gaze, what was it going to be this time?

"Hi." Briar greets. Someone normal. He just looked tired, or annoyed. As long as he wasn't an in the closet Loki; she'd be fine. "So, you and many others have committed a crime, obviously, and we're giving you the chance to get your charges dropped, nine hundred thousand dollars, and freedom. Do you accept?" She asks him politely, wondering if he'd speak. And if he did, what he'd say.

A single brow was raised when the woman greeted him, and remained up throughout her speech. So he had been selected among those arrested to become a spectacle of the government's little game show. Fighting with and against fellow convicts all for a shot of freedom. But the question was, why him? Was this their way o f telling him their evidence against him was too concrete that he'd be convicted unless he won? Was it a trick? Would by accepting this offer would it be the same as him admitting to being guilty?

These were the wondering passing through his mind, calculating the possibilities and interpretations. Every pro and con. After several moments of silence, he finally spoke. "What are the implications of me accepting this offer?" he asked, his voice cool as he tilted his head to the side. "If I join it's as if I'm admitting I'm guilty before I even had a trial. And that seems very counterproductive for my well being. So I wish to know if the my possible joining, and all actions revealed through the television broadcasting, will be used against me or not on the possibility that I loose?"

Briar blinks in surprise. "Um, well..." She never thought of it like that before. It was a good question. Very well thought out. "Hm." Briar crosses her arms and smiles at him. "I wonder what your IQ is..." She say out loud. "Well, either, you accept the offer, and you live or decline the offer and you die. Seems to me the best thing here would be to compete and if you lose then get sent to prison to fulfill your sentence. So die here, or live later." Briar says to him with a shrug. "Kind of unfair, but people actually do choose to die here. Your call."

He had stumped her. There was an inner self-satisfaction with that knowledge. But there was also frustration and irritation. Shouldn't this woman have some knowledge of the going on of this competition? It had been going on for years! Was she knew? Was she an imbecile?

At the inquire about is intelligence, a small smirk grew on his face. "Who knows?" he said calmly, not planning to reveal such information towards a complete stranger. Still, it was nice to be recognized for his superior intellect. At the mention of possibly dying, he raised an eyebrow again. "I don't believe my supposed transgressions," as he was certainly not going to fully admit to having done them, "are large enough to give anyone a death penalty. Much less a child." and as soon as he said that, his face grew younger -or rather fit into what his age actually was. Just a ten year old boy with innocence shining in his bright blue eyes.

After all, that sort of thing tended to not sit well with the general public. Especially with random spurts of rebellion sporting up here and there. It wouldn't do well with the government's image. But then again, who's to say I'd get a public trial? They could keep it all hush up and do me away without anyone knowing. Wouldn't put it passed them. It wouldn't be the first time the government covered something up. They did it all the time with their polluting ways that were killing Mother Earth.

"But if those are my only two options," he drawled out, giving a sigh as if the whole ordeal was nothing more than an inconvenience. "I think I would like to know more of what I'm allowed before I make a decision." One never should agree to something without knowing the fine print.

"Well, you should find out." Briar says at the topic of his IQ. "Well that would be because it isn't a death penalty, it's a way to force you to accept.." Briar says to him. This kid was probably too smart for his own good. He could probably get himself in trouble on his team talking like that to others. Oh well, fights were ratings. Ratings were money.
Briar frowns, narrowing his eyes at him. What more does he need to know? What more was there to tell him. "You're allowed to do as you please. Attempt to escape you'll be killed, but not by any officials, the rest is complete freedom or the next three hundred and sixty five days. Or at least as free as it can get." Briar shrugs, "You're gonna have to be a little more specific kid."

Damian fought the urge to rolls his eyes, instead merely tilting his head to the side in boredom. "Yeah I'll get on that." he responded, though he knew of his I.Q. The school his father had him attend did tests for that now and then, most likely for bragging rights to other schools by how smart their students were.

At the mention of how it was really a forcing means, he raised an eyebrow. So he didn't actually have a choice. The option no was just a formality, but couldn't be selected. he had no choice but to accept. How typical he thought, giving a light snort.

"So I have no real say on the matter. How quaint." When the blonde woman frowned at his inquiry for more details, Damian met her look with a cold stare. If he had no choice, he wanted to know exactly what he was getting into. The information she did give, he took in and repeated in his mind to ensure remembrance. I can roam about so long as I don't try to leave. Everything else seems up to interruption. To test that out, he gave a smirk.

"I can do anything?" he asked, clarifying the matter at hand. She did know what anything entailed didn't she? Blowing things up, breaking bones, killing someone. Not that Damian had ever taken a life. "Am I allowed anything from my home? Any... tools deemed beneficial or am I to come in with just the clothes on my back?" It would be ideal if he could go in a bit prepared.

More specifically, he would like to have his sword. Anything else he was sure he could handle on his own. His mother taught him well in survival and relying on the Earth's bounty to provide.

"To an extent, yes you do just about anything you want to. " Briar nods, recalling the past years. "Yes, you're allowed just a few things, but no weapons or communication devices." Briar answers. Briar examines him, "Hey, sorry if this isn't what you wanted. But I mean it's sort of consequence I suppose. All you can do now is make the most of it." She smiles brightly at him.

To an extent. Well wasn't she just a fountain of answers? She really is an imbecile. Damian thought as he raised an eyebrow to her. "And what pray tell, does not fall under the 'extent'?" he questioned, his one revealing some of his irritation but only the tip of the ice berg.

He wasn't allowed to bring weapons. How disappointing. But he supposed he could make do. Maybe there would be some sort of reward challenge that would grant him something along those means. "And exactly how much is a few?' he added in his inquiry, his mind calculating the possible things he would request that would aid him.

"Five items you may bring from home." Briar answers quickly, growing annoyed with him. He was in a bad mood. She'd been dealing with whackjobs and possible future serial killers! The last thing she needed was this brat's attitude.
"The extent meaning you can't enter restricted areas, you can't disobey direct orders, you can't antagonize others into fights, but if you do, you'll be separated accordingly. You're not allowed to attack crew members if you do, your team will suffer in some way. Not that you probably care about them." Briar says with arrogance and a cocky smirk. "There are other rules put into place, but due to this being a television broadcast some of the rules have been allowed to be broken due to high ratings, so I won't waste your precious time by listing them off. Is that all right with you princess?"

Five items, no weapons or communication devices. He could work with that. From what I recall of the show, food items were not available much. The forest should have plenty of vegetation to feed on, but just in case I should see about using what does exist in the forest and spreading it to a private garden. So one of my items should be a shovel. It's not classified as a weapon, though might prove useful should such a situation arrive. In the midst of his thoughts, the woman seemed to grow irritated as she answered his other question. As if it was his fault she had been too inept to do inform him properly the first time around.

The restrictions given to him were clear cut and precise. Leaving no vagueness that could be turned against him. Apart from the allowed to be broken rules that she refused to tell him. He would have to investigate into that at a later date. As she called him princess, he raised a brow and looked at her like an adult would when scolding a child. "You're not very good with children, are you?" he questioned, though it sounded more like a statement.

"Childish-nature in adulthood isn't a very attractive quality."

This kid was so annoying. No one was as thorough as he was; or had been. No one. Which really frightened Briar. As an intellectual, she was sure she could never reach his aptitude. "You're not very good with people are you?" She counters, wondering how many friends he had. Well not many if he was performing odd crimes like these. Though she could be wrong.
"Good thing I'm not here to get you to crush on me then, huh?" Briar teases with another arrogant smile.

Her counter only proved how childish she was being. And he was the one that was ten. "I don't care much for people as a whole." he said simply, his tone calm and mature, the opposite of what she was being. A slight scoff left his lips upon her final words though. "I should hope not. If you were, I would have to question what issues you might posses. And I'd rather not have to be roped into something against my will by a pedophile."

Leaning back in his seat, a smirk slowly grew on his lips. "Besides, I'm not interested in older women." A nice little jab he was sure would get under her skin. Women were very sensitive about their ages. "Now are you done getting into a petty argument with a ten year old or am I to sit here and listen to your next grade school comeback?"

Bria laughs at him. "Wow, you're full of shit. Spoiled too." Briar retrieves her keys and leans across the table, "Give me your wrists, kid." She commands offering her key towards the handcuffs.

A snort of disbelief left him  as she called him spoiled, his eyes looking at her like she was some kind of idiot. "I suppose focusing only on my father's wealth would lead you to think that." he drawled out, "However I believe the term 'tree-huger' is the more befitting insult for my personality and beliefs. From which I picked up from my mother."

With that said, he reached out towards her with his cuffs lifted up. Honestly he was surprised they had placed them on him in the front, rather than placing them on him with his arms behind his back. Didn't they know the damage he could have caused with the easier mobility like that? The police knew better than these guards.

But as he was trying to work things out in his favor, he had done nothing on the matter. Lull them all into a false sense of security. And as he waited for his cuffs to unlock, his mind began to formulate what other items beside the shovel he would request.

"Tree hugger, huh?" Briar says as handcuffs fall loudly onto the tabletop. "Well I sure hope that your mother is much more pleasant than you are." Briar says before raising her walkie talkie to her lips to call in the guards to escort him. "I'd love to boast about how pleasant is was speaking with you, but then I'd be lying for every person who's ever had a conversation with you. And I don't assist others." Briar smiles sweetly as the guards enter.

The handcuffs fell from his writs and clattered onto the table, their weight going with them and freeing the boy from their burden. Rubbing his wrists lightly, he gave a bored look towards the blonde. "She wouldn't like you." he claimed nonchalantly, filled with certainty that that would be the case.

"And I would have nothing to do with that factor." He watched as she called the guards back in with a walkie talkie, folding his hands together in his lap as he waited. "I'm sure it wouldn't be the first time you lied to a large group of people about something." he stated calmly, not bothering to look at the guards as they came into the room.

"But I assure you, the sentiment is returned." And with that, he stood up and allowed the guards to guide him towards the door. The tan-skinned boy paused at the doorway however and turned his head to look back. "By the way, those glasses don't hide the crow's feet very well." And with that, he left.

Of course there weren't any crows feet. He just felt like giving that little jab to piss the woman off. If he was being forced to play this little game, he might as well get some pay back.
